Lightweight steel trench shields are an additional type of steel trench shield that CTS rents, and sells, to help meet customer needs.  The lightweight steel trench shield shares many of the benefits of the conventional steel trench shield such as rigidity and strength, however, combines a lighter weight design.  The weight differential helps contractors remain within the working capacity of lifting equipment on a project.

In addition to the lower overall weight of the shield, the lightweight steel trench shields can be ordered with 5 or 8 inch spreader sockets.  The 5 inch spreader sockets provide additional weight relief, by allowing the use of lower weight per foot pipe, while the 8 inch spreader sockets help to seamlessly integrate the lightweight steel shield without the need for an additional array of 5 inch  spreader pipe sizes.

The lightweight steel shields are typically used in the smaller sizes such as an 8 feet x 8 feet or 8 feet x12 feet.  The shields provide a rugged box that provides more lenient weight restrictions.
